#SherryWeek in the UK hosts four launch nights

International Sherry Week kicked-off celebrations with simultaneous launch events in four UK cities

The third annual #SherryWeek started with a bang last night as Sherry Wines UK hosted guests in four cities round the UK: London; Manchester; Cardiff & Edinburgh.

The London event hosted an Andalusian experience at Drakes Tabanco, with guests enjoying a flight of Fernando de Castilla Sherry, straight from the barrel; a sherry tasting menu paired with scallops, mushrooms and torta de baros pudding, and; live music provided by a flamenco guitarist.

In Manchester guests were at El Gato Negro where their team of bartenders gave a Sherry cocktail masterclass. In addition, a tutored Sherry tasting with Lustau wines and a Sherry and food pairing menu was on offer throughout the night.

Goya23 hosted Edinburgh's launch of #SherryWeek where guests enjoyed Sherries from Bodegas Urium, Delgado Zuleta and Gonzalez Byass and tried their hand at carving their own jamón - definitely not as easy as the 'cortadores' made it look.

In Cardiff there was an incredible night of pouring, pairing, tasting, talking and laughing in the sherry bar at Bar 44. The sell-out event welcomed guests with a glass of chilled Manzanilla and was hosted by Owen Morgan, one of Sherry’s leading ambassadors in the UK. Guests then enjoyed a great tasting of five Sherry styles, each paired with two tapitas, as well as trying their hand at pouring with the venencia - a real highlight that created real fun, laughter and some comic moments.

For a third year, International Sherry Week, organised under the auspices of the Sherry Wines Regulatory Council, will spread the word about Sherry wines to aficionados in many countries around the world. Sherry Week, which takes place on 7-13 November 2016, is an international fiesta celebrating this unique southern Spanish wine. Thousands of restaurants, bars, hotels and wine stores around the world hold Sherry tastings, pairings, cocktail and other Sherry-themed events.

This year, more than 1800 daily events have been registered in 30 countries for the biggest global celebration to showcase wines from Jerez. For the first time Lithuania joins the esteemed list of nations taking part in ISW this year, and Paris joins the list of worldwide gastronomic cities where Sherry events will be hosted.
