World's greatest Sherry tasting
Now in its fifth year, The Great Sherry Tasting is officially the largest collection of Sherries available to taste in the world - outside Jerez. This year's trade and press event, being held on Monday 14 September, will celebrate Sherry's diversity and showcases the widest range of Sherry wine styles.
The Great Sherry Tasting 2015 will welcome a record 31 Sherry producers, represented by 22 of the UK's leading Sherry importers, collectively presenting over 200 different Sherries. Also attending will be winemakers and experts from Jerez, who will be presenting their own Sherries to some of the UK's most respected wine writers, wine buyers and influential industry experts.
As in previous years, guests will also be able to attend the highly anticipated programme of masterclasses, and this year is no exception. Three masterclasses are confirmed, including: one on the highly popular range of en rama Sherries, hosted by Beltrán Domecq, president, CRDO Jerez; a second on Sherry, Chocolate and Cheese, hosted by one of the UK's leading Sherry commentators, Sarah Jane Evans MW; and finally a third masterclass, that will unlock the key to really understanding Sherry, revealing the differences of biological ageing and traditional ageing, hosted by Beltrán Domecq.
Graham Hines, Director of Sherry Wines UK, commented: "It is always the most exciting time of the year for us when we throw open our doors to the whole of the UK's wine industry and invite them into our world of Sherry, for just one day. This year is even bigger and better, not least because of the breadth of Sherry and producers being showcased, but also the masterclass programme, which is our most diverse yet. And, of course, it is always a real privilege to welcome Beltrán Domecq, president of the CRDO Jerez, to preside over those masterclasses for us. Last year's event was special, but this year really is The Even Greater Sherry Tasting!"
Members of the UK's wine trade that would like to attend are invited to pre-register online at www.sherryinstitute.co.uk
(Please note that this event is for trade professionals only and you will be asked for identification.)
