The Wine and Brandy Route of Jerez elects César Saldaña

César Saldaña is re-elected president of the Wine and Brandy Route of Jerez Association at a meeting which also served to review the Route’s activities over the past year and to sketch out plans for the future.

On Monday 27 March 2017, companies and institutions belonging to the Ruta del Vino y Brandy de Jerez assembled at the home of the Consejo Regulador to hold an extraordinary general meeting. In accordance with the Association’s statutes and with the mandate of the previous administration completed, it was necessary to elect officers to the new administrative board of the Association, which brings together nearly a hundred companies and institutions as well as the nine Town Councils of the Sherry district.

The sitting president of the Association and the only candidate, the Director General of the Consejo Regulador César Saldaña, was duly re-elected unanimously and is already working along the lines approved at the meeting. At its conclusion, the newly re-elected president said

I am grateful to all the companies and entities which have put their trust in me and especially to those with whom I will now be working closely on the joint project which is the Ruta del Vino y Brandy de Jerez. I believe we should be proud of what we have built together, but there is still much to do so that our Sherry district can become the outstanding wine tourism destination we all desire.

During the meeting, companies newly associated with the route were acknowledged and new projects were presented which the new administrative board will begin work on immediately. Among these is the preparation of an external audit at the end of this year as a preliminary step towards the renewal of Wine Route of Spain certification.

The Ruta del Vino y Brandy de Jerez is one of 27 routes certified by the Secretary of State for Tourism and ACEVIN, the Spanish Association of Wine Cities, and is in a leading position in terms of visitor numbers to the nearly 30 bodegas and wine museums included in the route. Included along with these establishments are hotels, rural lodgings, restaurants, tabancos, travel agents and active tourism companies, which together offer one of the most attractive wine tourism destinations in Spain.
