'Tis the season of goodwill and the season for Sherry. Nobody needs telling twice how synonymous Sherry is with the festive season in the UK, but with more and more choice in the UK market, here's a review of the Wine Journalists' selections for this year.

To quote Olly Smith writing for the Daily mail " Sherry is a bit like finding the Mona Lisa on offer for tuppence in your local car boot sale – in wine terms, it remains mysteriously undervalued."

Also for the Daily Mail, Matthew Jukes undertook the huge task of recommending 80 Best Value Wines for Christmas and New Year for 2015 including five own brand sherries from supermarkets Morrisons, Waitrose and Tesco as well as Alegría Manzanilla by Williams & Humbert from the Wine Society.

In the Daily Express Jamie Goode recommended Lidl's Tio Nico Pedro Ximénez Sherry for its spicy Christmas cake and treacle flavours. Whilst Terry Kirby in The Independent highlights Gonzalez Byass Fino Una Palma as a very singluar sherry.

Over at the Guardian David Williams suggested we Mix up our Christmas drinking traditions with our turkey, where a darker amontillado is versatile, working both as pre-meal aperitif and dark digestif and late-night sip. Wines from Sainburys and Fernando de Castilla are his top tips. He also selects a great value Pedro Ximenez from Morrisons for under £7

In order to Fortify Yourself for the Festivities Victoria Moore, writing for The Telegraph, picks our some very special drinks from the major brands, as well as an own brand Fino for Berry Bros and Rudd, produced by Lustau.

Winematcher Fiona Beckett gives a great recommendation for pairing Amontillado with Nut Roast for the vegetarian in the family, as well as a reminder of the beauty of sweet sherries with blue cheese.
