Harveys Sherries keep winning prizes

Harveys Fino and Harveys Palo Cortado, two emblematic wines from Bodegas Fundador, have won the top prize at the Premios Mezquita, the only competition which has been held annually and uninterruptedly in Andalucía for the last twenty-three years, and one of the most prestigious in Spain thanks to the highly qualified panel of judges which evaluates the wines. 

Competing at the XXIII edition of Iberian Wine Competition, known as the Premios Mezquita, and held on the 24th of April in Córdoba, were the best known bodegas in the trade. Naturally, Bodegas Fundador and Grupo Emperador did not want to miss the promotional opportunity of such a prestigious competition, so they once again backed their Sherry brand Harveys, the only Spanish brand with a warrant to the British Royal Household. 

Different categories of wine took part In the competition, hoping to win the top prizes awarded after a blind tasting at which famous experts such as Andrés Proensa, author of the “Guía Proensa Guide to Spanish Wines” and editor of the magazine “Planeta Vino”, or Ernesto Gallup, journalist and writer on gastronomy were just some of those on the judging panel, which evaluated and analysed the wines entered for the competition, awarding gold to the only two Harveys wines entered for the competition, from the Harveys Premium Range. 

The prizewinning wines are aged by the traditional system of criaderas and soleras and have the following characteristics:
Harveys Dry Fino Sherry is an elegant and balanced wine, aged biologically by the traditional system of criaderas and soleras in butts of American oak. It is the perfect wine to enjoy with any food, and this versatility makes it perfect to drink at any time. 

The other gold winner, the delicious Palo Cortado, is a more complex wine characterised by its aroma of hazelnuts with hints of oak. It is the ideal wine for more elaborate dishes like fish stews, game and lamb, perfect for enjoying in good company. 

These, then, are the two wines which won gold at the Premios Mezquita, perfectly structured wines, made with great passion and love.
